About the journal

We write travel notes for people who'd rather miss the bus.

Wander Diaries is a small, two-person journal about slow travel in India. No sponsored posts. No "top 10" lists. Just long letters from places where the chai is hot and the wifi is mercifully bad.

Travel notebook and a cup of tea

How it started

We started in 2023 with one rule: write only about a place after spending at least four nights there. That ruled out airports, layovers, weekend trips with FOMO. It also ruled out 80% of the "travel content" we'd been reading. We thought we'd write twelve essays in a year. We wrote four. Each one was better for having taken its time.

What we believe

The two of us

Ananya writes. Vikram photographs. We met on a delayed train to Madgaon in 2019 and have been planning the next trip ever since. Neither of us is a professional anything — we have day jobs, we run this on evenings and weekends, and we'd love to keep it that way.

"The point of travel isn't to come back with a story. It's to come back willing to listen better."

What we won't do

We won't take sponsored stays in exchange for coverage. We won't write "Top 5 hidden gems" listicles (a gem stops being hidden the second it gets a slot in a listicle). And we won't ever, ever, recommend a restaurant we haven't eaten at twice.
